New Mexico NICA Leaders' Summit 2023

Our NM NICA Leaders' Summit brings together new and experienced coaches for a weekend of training, connecting and biking fun!

Sat, Apr 29, 2023, 8:00 AM – Sun, Apr 30, 2023, 4:00 PM

We’re bringing together our NM NICA coaches —both new and experienced—to develop skills and knowledge, share strategies, and build community while having a great time!

With new and returning coaches we’ll have 2 tracks to choose from, with plenty of overlap to spend time together too! This is an exciting time for kids and adult mentors in New Mexico to be a part of this growing youth mountain bike program.

Date: 4/29 (Saturday): Establishing Positive Team Culture, Risk Management, Inclusive Teams and Coaching Strategies.

Saturday’s seminars cover the nuts and bolts of working with middle and high school student athletes in the context of a NICA mountain bike club. Workshops on team management, positive team culture, coaching strategies, and creating a welcoming inclusive environment for all riders. These seminars and workshops will cover basic knowledge all NICA Level 1, 2 and 3 coaches should be aware of and incorporate into their duties.

Date: 4/30 (Sunday): NICA On The Bike Skills training for Coaches (OTB 101, OTB201), on the bikes games and fun.

You will also learn about experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. If you have taken the NICA OTB101 course in the past, you will select the OTB 201 course.
